APA orders to conduct prompt investigations regarding the incident of fixing artifacts to the wall using screws at Sohag National Museum

As per the instructions of Counselor/ Amany El-Rafei –President of APA to follow-up newspapers, broadcast media and social media to inspect incidents that would constitute a violation or suspicion of corruption under the jurisdiction of APA in order to take the necessary procedures to refer them to investigation before the competent prosecution.

Regarding the incident circulated on news and social networking websites as well as DMC channel evening program on Saturday 12/1/2019 showing photographs of artifacts displayed at Sohag National Museum fixed by screws to the wall -which constitutes if proven to be valid- a profound violation to international regulations and techniques that should be followed when handling artifacts, beside threating the safety of those precious pieces that that constitute Egypt’s cultural heritage throughout history.

Accordingly, the incident was referred to immediate investigation before Sohag Administrative Prosecution.
